The Association of Welsh Independent Brewers was set up in 2007 to promote the beers and brewers of Wales.
Since the new millennium started, there has been a real resurgence of brewing in Wales, with a huge number of new breweries opening to complement the existing large and small breweries.
This dramatic increase in the number of breweries has been reflected in the rest of the UK, where a huge surge in the demand for cask ales and locally produced beers has seen a large increase in the number of breweries all over the UK. In Wales, the new breweries have also catalysed new interest in beer styles and diversity of flavours. In the last 5 years, Welsh breweries have really begun to make their mark on the UK brewing scene, with a number of Welsh beers winning major national awards from both SIBA (the Society of Independent Brewers) and CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale).
The aims of the Association of Welsh Independent Brewers are to further the interest in Welsh Beers and Welsh breweries, and encourage people to seek out and enjoy our beers.
The Association of Welsh Independent Brewers aims to improve public awareness of the quality Welsh brewing industry by co-operation to improve sales and opportunities through marketing, quality promotion and emphasis of the Welsh identity for Wales' Brewing Industry.
